Do you know about Cyber Monday? Cyber Monday is the newest shopping holiday in the United States. Cyber Monday falls on the Monday after Black Friday, which is the Thursday after Thanksgiving. The idea behind this unofficial holiday is that people start their holiday shopping around this time and many of them are shopping online, while at work, on this particular Monday. As such, this day sees some of the highest volumes of the year for retail online sales.
Since online retailers know that people will be doing a lot of shopping on this particular day, many offer ‘doorbuster’ deals. A doorbuster is a special or sale aimed to bring people to a particular store. Sometimes it’s a special on one item, which may be sold below cost, other times it can be an overall discount. Coupon Swapper has a whole list of Cyber Monday discounts that will be offered by online retailers on Cyber Monday 2012. These are deals that will only be offered next Monday, the 26th. Personally, I prefer to get all my holiday shopping online so I don’t have to deal with the crowds at the mall over Thanksgiving weekend; I’d rather be watching football and eating leftovers until I’m immobilized.
