The Wall Street Journal wrote on August 3rd that Network Solutions sold for $560 Million. Network Solutions sold to Web.com for a combination of stock and cash. The total cash price is $405 million and the total share amount is valued at $155 million.
Network Solutions has been around for over 30 years. They were the first to manage the domain name system and did so exclusively for a period of time. They offer domain registration, web hosting, online marketing, e-commerce, and more services to Fortune 100 businesses and small businesses alike.
Web.com is a public company (Nasdaq: WWWW) and provides a suite of online marketing services. They provide website services as well and over 15 million websites have been created using their tools and services.
Web.com had acquired Register.com almost exactly one year ago. The press release was issued August 2nd, 2010 when Web.com announced they Acquired Register.com. The deal was for $135 million comprising of $25 million in cash and $110 million in long term debt.
Web.com will be an interesting organization when it is all said and done, assuming they can assimilate the companies properly.
